Life & Career Education Project

Life & Career Education Project 2013-2014

Back
01 Sep 2013 - 31 Aug 2014

This is the second year of the LEAP for S4 and S5 students since the pioneer project was successfully organized in 2011. With a view to supporting the ethnic minority community to integrate into the Hong Kong society, the LEAP will be extended to students of ethnic minorities in 2013-14. In this year, the following secondary schools are invited to participate in the project mentored by employees from six corporations.

  • HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No. 3 Secondary School
  • TKO Government Secondary School
  • Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College
  • Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon)

This project aims to enable 132 students to learn, through direct dialogue in groups with mentors, essential and positive attitudes and strategies in finding their right career path. It is hoped that the mentors will share with the students their personal experience in career advancement – how they set their goals and direction, how they make disciplined efforts in self-improvement and find ways to adapt to and grow with the changing demands in the working environment.

The project mentors are mainly middle management staff members from the following companies and industries whose support are highly appreciated:

  • Holiday Inn Golden Mile
  • Hong Kong Disneyland
  • Hong Kong Police Force
  • The Hongkong Electric Company Limited
  • Toys"R"Us (Asia) Limited
  • McDonald's Corporation

A Briefing Session was successfully held on February 8 and attended by 26 mentors and teachers. The Briefing conducted by Vivien Pau was very well-received and the feedback by the participants was positive. Below are some pictures of the day to share:
