Maritime Trade and Revolution: The Role of Guangzhou in Modern Chinese History
BackThe Membership Development Team has conducted a talk titled "Maritime Trade and Revolution: Guangzhou's Role in Modern Chinese History" at HKUGA College on 3 October. The lecture featured Professor Joseph Ting Sun-pao, Honorary Assistant Professor in the HKU School of Chinese and former Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of History, who provided an in-depth explanation of Guangzhou's geographical advantages and its historical development as a trading port.
As an important maritime trading hub, Guangzhou is not only a center for economic and cultural exchange but also a significant stage for social change and revolutionary activities. The talk explored the historical heritage and the significance of modern transformation in Guangzhou from multiple perspectives, receiving enthusiastic support from Members, teachers and students from the two schools. Participants actively engaged in discussions and took the opportunity to invite Professor Ding to lead a deep exploration of the Hong Kong Island in future.
